In their latest research, they have identified a new mechanism that has a role in childhood obesity. Their findings could help in the prevention and early detection of childhood obesity and the development of new drug therapies.

International success of Debrecen medical students

Scientific success in cancer therapy in Debrecen
One of the most significant scientific achievements of recent years is the recommendation of researchers from the University of Debrecen in one of the world's leading oncology journals, Nature Reviews Clinical Oncolgy. Based on their research results, researchers of the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Biology of the Faculty of General Medicine have formulated a recommendation for clinicians on the composition of cell therapy products to be used in organ tumours for more successful treatments.

Conference on the current situation of the economy and the challenges of the future
The Károly Ihrig Doctoral School of Management and Business of the University of Debrecen has held an international conference of PhD students, sponsored by the university’s Faculty of Economics and Hungary’s Central Bank. Hungarian and foreign students delivered presentations in ten sessions. Gergely Baksay, Managing Director responsible for economic and budget analysis of the Central Bank gave a plenary presentation. The programme included a round table discussion too.

A gap-filling textbook on preventive medicine
A new textbook on Preventive Medicine and Public Health for medical students and students of other health sciences has been produced with the collaboration of experts from the University of Debrecen. It is the first standard textbook on preventive medicine and public health to be used in the four national medical schools for many years.

The newly graduated students of the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Debrecen were inaugurated as doctors on Saturday. At the ceremony, more than fifty new doctors of Hungarian and foreign nationality took their oath and received their diplomas.

A support of twenty-five thousand euros from BMW to help children recover
BMW Group Plant Debrecen Health Center has decided to support the Pediatric Clinic of the University of Debrecen with a HUF 10 million grant for the construction of a playground, the development of a community space and the care of chronically ill children. The amount was handed over by representatives of the company at a ceremony on Thursday.

State-of-the-art conditions in child psychiatric care in Debrecen
The upgrading of the Bartók Béla Street Child Psychiatry Building of the University of Debrecen’s Clinical Centre, where both the outpatient departments of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department and the Clinical Psychology Centre are located, has been completed recently. The ‘new’ building, modernized out of a HUF 900 million grant, was inaugurated on Monday.
